After suffering a serious heart disease at the age of 18, Luca was bedridden for the best part of a year. The one hour a day that he was permitted to leave his hospital bed was spent taking pictures. It’s a habit that’s been with him for a long time, with a personal archive that began aged 8.
Across commercial and editorial work, the Italian artist has traced a visual atmosphere that has a tactile yet surreal essence due to his obsession with organic texture, touch and light within his imaginary stories. His attachment to the camera pushes his creative process to a multi-dimensional space delicately achieved through prints, installation and sculptural work.
Luca constantly develops imagery contrary to established beliefs to be more thought-provoking. He is influencing ideas of how tragedy and humour might be engaged with, deformed and made modern in our ever-changing times.
With his varied projects, Luca has sought to increase awareness around sustainable food systems and independent art institutions for young people.
